At Kayla Drinkwater Physio Dunedin we have a holistic approach to your rehabilitation. We believe it is important that we focus on different aspects of the body and mind to optimize your recovery and health. Having a variety of tools and methods means that we are able to address the body as a whole whilst providing you an individualized treatment plan, to empower you through your health/healing journey.

MORE INFO ON TREATMENT TYPES YOU MAY EXPERIENCE DURING PHYSIO:

  • We use a variety of therapeutic techniques with the patient to enhance joint and muscle movement and reduce pain. The aim of these techniques is to enhance movement quality and enable the patient to start performing prescribed exercises that encourages healing. This may include methods such as mobilization, trigger point therapy, cupping, somatic release.xt goes here

  • Movement analysis is important in improving movement quality and efficiency. Mechanics that contribute to pain and injury can be identified and explained, then be used to inform exercise programmes that will build resilience to painful movement patterns.here

  • We use massage therapy and muscle release techniques (such as trigger pointing, cupping, mobilization methods) to aid in restoration of muscle range of motion and the reduction of pain.on

  • Movement and exercise therapy plays a vital role in the rehabilitation process. It is important that injured muscles restore strength and their functional capabilities. Once muscle strength has increased the therapist then works to help improve the painful movements that you were having difficulty with. Restoring quality movement for daily life with minimal pain is the goal of our exercise therapy rehabilitation process. We also use structured programs for specific sports and work rehabilitation because we understand there are different demands required of you in these roles. Our aim is to ensure that you are confident returning to your desired sport and work-related tasks.

  • We focus on various recovery systems to help optimize your healing, allowing you to train/move with consistency and continually progress throughout your rehab. Recovery systems are linked to lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, injury mindset, behaviors, body responses and training load management.

  • The mind and body are highly interconnected. Our thoughts affect how we feel and how we feel can contribute to our behaviors and actions. We focus on breaking down barriers, stress reduction, mindset around injury, limiting beliefs, behavior and lifestyle change, as we understand how injury can affect your world and health.
